Episode 74: Delia Falconer on her extraordinary new book, “Signs and Wonders”

“Signs and Wonders” by Delia Falconer is a collection of 13 deeply personal essays in which she grapples with the tension between awe at the beauty of the world and despair at the prospect of its imminent demise due to catastrophic climate change. We talked about the concept of “solastalgia”, the feeling of being out of place even when you are at home, the extent to which the natural world is expressing its own despair at what humans have done to it, and the role of the writer and the power of creative non-fiction as one response to climate change.
