The luminous Michelle de Kretser discusses her latest novel, Scary Monsters, which explores the impact of migration in two very different stories, read from different ends of the book. She and Nicole discuss racism, misogyny, the migrant experience and ageism as well as Michelle's choice to play with the novel's physical form, as a way of recreating in the reader the same sense of displacement and disorientation experienced by migrants.
